How to use:
This section describes each search field and control. The buttons right below here demonstrate sample searches. Clicking them sets the various fields and runs a search so you can quickly see how the map and database work.
Name: Type in a full or partial vessel name.
Depth: Select a lower limit on depth for your search. For example, choosing >100 will display only wrecks deeper than 99 feet.
Type: Choose the type of item you are searching for.
Longitude: This field lets you limit your search to a specific slice of longitude, five degrees either side of the value you enter here. Type in East values as positive numbers, e.g. 44E = 44, and type in West values as negative numbers, e.g., 85 W = -85
Search: Click this button to lookup wrecks in the database. The search should complete in a few seconds and display any items found. If you're having trouble finding a wreck it may very well not be in the database. Results are limited to 25 items per search.
One tip when searching on a wreck by name is to broaden your search: set Depth to >0, Type to All and clear the Longitude field.
Clear Markers:
Clears the results of your search but leaves the default markers that are always displayed on the map.
Browser Requirements:
Google Maps currently supports recent versions of Firefox/Mozilla, IE 5.5+, Safari 1.2+, and sort of supports Opera. IE 5.0 is not supported.
Javascript must be enabled.
