Piccard submarine, mésoscaphe, displayed in Lucerne
Submersible or Mini Sub | Switzerland
A submersible designed by Auguste Piccard and which took 33,000 people to the bottom of Lake Geneva in 1964, is to be restored and displayed at the Swiss Transport Museum.
The vessel, know as the mésoscaphe, was the first submarine to carry tourists and made more than a thousand dives. It premiered at Expo 64, appeared again briefly at Expo 02 and has since then been rusting in storage.
