Buoyancy - USS Holland submarine simulator
This micro submarine game lets you control the USS Holland by filling and blowing her ballast tanks.
Instructions on controls and scoring are below.
Controls and Indicators
- Arrow buttons let you pump out and fill the trim tanks and fill and blow the main ballast tank. They're the only controls you have, sorry no propulsion here yet. The boat will rotate a bit as you move up and down through the water. The horizontal tail tends to pitch the boat in the direction of travel.
- Tank capacities are shown in the boat diagram. As a tank fills or empties its water level goes up and down. Note: NOT working yet.
- Air supply is reduced when you blow main ballast. When it's gone you're not going to be able to increase your buoyancy. To win the game you have to end on the surface!
- Depth is indicated in feet of seawater. Current varies with depth but doesn't much affect you.
- Battery voltage is slightly affected by pumping but nothing to worry about in this version.
Scoring
Scores are based on depth and time, so staying deep longer increases your score.
- Scoring starts when you descend below about five feet
- Laying on the bottom scores nothing
- Surfacing ends the game
Good luck and have fun!
